Services we offer include, but are not limited to:

Routine Dental Cleaning

It is suggested that patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by your dentist. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile. X-rays may need to be taken to help detect possible cavities in between teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Pediatric Dentistry

Children of all ages are welcome at our practice! A child’s first dental visit should be between 6 and 12 months old. A good rule of thumb is as soon as the first tooth erupts, bring them in. That way, your child can have positive first experiences at a young age and the parent can get valuable advice in helping care for their child’s teeth.

Periodontal Services

Though your mouth may feel healthy and you may not have any symptoms, periodontal disease can progress without a patient knowing. If left untreated, periodontal disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth. This is why early treatment and prevention is so important! Your dentist will make sure you are receiving the highest quality of care that will assist in preventing periodontal disease from developing.

Digital X-Rays

Dental x-rays are a great preventative, diagnostic tool that provides important information not visible during a regular dental exam. Our dental team will utilize this important information to safely and accurately detect any dental abnormalities and then create an accurate treatment plan.

Fluoride Treatment

Periodically we will suggest a fluoride treatment for your teeth. It’s a simple and quick process and can be done during your routine exam. No extra appointment is necessary. Fluoride, a mineral that helps prevent tooth decay, is applied to your teeth. This strengthens the enamel so your smile will be as strong as ever.

Teeth Whitening

Soon after starting treatment at our office for teeth whitening, you will start to see a whiter and brighter smile. With our whitening services, the effects of coffee, smoking, tea, and other causes for tooth discoloration will slowly disappear leaving a beautiful white smile. We also offer take-home whitening systems. Schedule an appointment for a consultation today.

Bonding

This is an affordable, effective technique for camouflaging crooked or misshapen teeth while preserving your original teeth. By bonding tooth-colored fillings to your teeth, we can close gaps and hide unsightly stains or chipped teeth. The best part: we don’t cut away any of your teeth!

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that your dentist uses to improve the appearance of your smile. She will bond the veneers to the surfaces of the teeth to correct certain dental flaws. Your porcelain veneers are customized for a perfect fit and natural appearance. When in place, porcelain veneers can:

  • Close spaces between the teeth
  • Lighten and brighten the teeth
  • Improve the beauty of your smile
  • Repair chips, wear, or cracks in teeth
  • Correct teeth that are misshapen, crooked, or uneven

The procedure usually requires two visits to our office to complete. When your veneers are in place, you can enjoy a radiant new smile. Contact us today for more information on how porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry can benefit you.

Laser Dentistry

At Schultz Family Dentistry, many of our available procedures and treatments can be made more comfortable, convenient, and effective through laser dentistry. Our dental team uses a soft tissue laser to help in the treatment of periodontal disease. This allows us to achieve optimal results with a non-invasive, non-surgical method.

Laser dentistry also allows for precise gum re-contouring to help balance uneven gums and remove excess gum tissue and reduce the look of an overly gummy smile. Our dental team can also use the laser to decrease the length and severity of cold sores and canker sores.

Other procedures including frenectomies, excisional biopsies, crown lengthening, and tooth exposure can be done efficiently, effectively and comfortably with the laser. When it comes to laser dentistry, there is little or no need for anesthesia or sutures, and discomfort is minimized. Call us today for more information!

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or has suffered from advanced decay and cannot be fixed with bonded filling material. Crowns cover the remaining tooth and restore its function, strength, and aesthetics. Several crown material options are available including non-metal crowns. Your dentist will discuss these on an individual basis depending on the area of the mouth that needs to be restored.

Bridges can be utilized when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. The loss of the tooth can create greater problems for your dental health if it is not corrected. The teeth next to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain, discomfort, and can look unsightly. With bridges, our doctors will close any gaps in your mouth. The bridge looks and acts just like natural teeth, is permanently cemented, and helps to maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.

Composite Filling

When a tooth is affected by decay, fractures, or cracks, a dental filling is needed to restore the tooth. In a single dental appointment, the decayed or injured tooth will be removed, cleaned, and filled. Composite fillings can be matched to the color of your existing tooth. Since the color is the same as your original tooth, the filling will look aesthetically pleasing and restore your teeth to a healthy, beautiful smile.

Endodontic Therapy (Root Canals)

Root canal therapy is needed when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth causing an infection of the nerve, or when severe trauma has affected the tooth. Regular checkups with your dentist helps to avoid and prevent the need for endodontic therapy. But once the pulp has become infected, it must be treated to avoid further issues since it cannot heal by itself. Some signs that a pulp is infected include sensitivity to hot or cold foods or liquids, pain, swelling, or even a bad taste in the mouth. For some patients no symptoms are obvious and they are unaware a problem even exists until they are seen by their dentist for an exam.

When endodontic therapy is performed, your dentist will clean out the infected pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. Once the area has been disinfected, the canals of the tooth are filled with a special material to prevent from further infections, and help in the healing of the tooth. Sometimes a core build-up, bonded post, and crown are necessary for restoring a tooth to function.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great alternative to traditional bridgework, and dentures. They are safe and look and feel just like natural teeth. Implants are permanently anchored into the patient’s jawbone and no preparation of adjacent teeth is required.

It is important to replace missing teeth, because if left with spaces, your teeth can shift and cause a variety of other dental and medical problems. Our office has extensive experience in treatment planning and designing implant solutions that are custom tailored for each individual patient. Implants do require several visits and take months to complete.

Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.

Invisalign®

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners. Whether your teeth are crowded, too far apart, or have shifted since wearing braces, you’ll have a new reason to smile. Only a doctor who has been trained and certified can treat using Invisalign. DR. SCHULTZ HAS ADVANCED TRAINING AND EXPERTISE AND IS DISTINGUISHED AS A PREFERRED PROVIDER OF INVISALIGN.

Upon an initial examination, Dr. Schultz will determine if Invisalign is right for you. She will write a treatment plan, make x-rays and photos, and take an impression of your teeth, which are submitted to the Invisalign laboratory. Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign carefully translates Dr. Schultz’s instructions into a series of precisely customized aligners. You then wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, moving your teeth, gradually, until you have achieved the intended result: straighter teeth.

Generally, you will have to visit the office every 4 to 6 weeks so we can monitor your treatment. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of your case, which determines the number of aligners you need. For more information about the Invisalign system, click here.

TMD (Temporomandibular disorders) Treatment

When you suffer from TMJ, you may endure chronic facial, head, neck, or jaw pain. This pain is caused by the way your teeth fit together. When someone consciously or unconsciously clenches and grinds their teeth it can intensify these problems. At Schultz Family Dentistry, we offer a variety of noninvasive treatments to reduce this discomfort. With a careful evaluation of your occlusion (how your teeth fit in your mouth), we can determine which treatment would work best for your individual dental situation.

Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can be very frightening and often painful. Prompt treatment is generally required to alleviate pain and ensure the patient’s oral and overall health. If you’re dealing with a dental emergency, call us immediately at 563-582-5000 and we will schedule you as soon as possible.
